What would you consider a killer deal right now on X3M

Dealer has 5 X3M on the lot...

What could I offer without wearing a full ski mask and looking like I’m trying to rob them...?

I am trying to, but that’s besides the point... 😂

I personally wouldn't do anything under 13% before incentives, but this also depends on your location.

I just completed a 14% off transaction (before incentives) from a FL dealer and felt like that was fantastic. The best I found previously in CA was 11%. Midwestern dealers were not willing to go beyond 6%.

By incentives you mean lease credits or rebates (loyalty, financing with bmw fs)?

That's correct. Incentives were in addition to the 14% off. In my case it was a lease and the lease credit was $3500 and loyalty was another $1500.

5 2020's or 2021's?

If all 20's, I would hold firm at 13-14% before incentives but start higher

There are some pretty lame dealers out there that think the buyers are waiting to get out of lock down before running out to pay sticker.

Offer 15% off before incentives and remind them It's a niche vehicle that they're paying for that car to sit.

One Midwest (MI specifically) dealer made it sound like I was in a bidding war for one of their 4 x3m's on the lot (misrepresented as comps on their website.

Called another dealer 10 miles in the other direction and ended up at 10%. I probably couldn't gotten better but I was in a BMW select plan and the balloon was due in day so I needed to get out ASAP

You are correct, midwest dealers are not interested in discounting. Contacted nearly a dozen dealers and no one is even coming close to 10%. Congrats to your 14% Was it the black one from fl?

Oh yes, they were trying to tell me how rare and hard to find the car was. Like they had something I couldn't find 200+ examples of on dealer lots throughout the US.

Thx - yes, it is black with the black/tan interior. I wasn't looking for black but I love that interior option. Plus the price was right - good discount and the money factor was at BMW rate.

I’ve got a 12% discount plus incentives on mine in May when they covered first 2 payments. Now I’ve heard inventory is getting low and dealers don’t want to go over 10% - 11%. At this point I would try to order a 2021 and try to get a similar discount, unless you don’t want live cockpit. I really didn’t want it, hence I went with 2020

A local dealership has 8 2020 unsold X3M and 1 X3MC on the lot. All but one of the base Ms have the M Sport Seat option; none have the Mobility Kit option so they all have the raised cargo floor. I suspect good deals could be had on any one of these. No 2021s in inventory.

Another local dealership has no X3Ms of any year or variant in inventory, but I have the impression they ordered very few from the outset.

Keep in mind many of the aggressive discounts you may see on the message board came pre-COVID. Despite the fact that '21s are rolling off the line at the moment, there is still an inventory shortage. Because of this shortage, some dealers are now pushing for more profit per unit, whereas before they could hit volume bonuses. Those volume bonuses are now near impossible because there just aren't enough cars. I'm not saying you should take whatever they offer, but I also think expectations need to be a little different at the moment. If you can wait, that is going to be your best negotiating tool.

The other thing to be mindful of, is that if there are numerous X3Ms on the lot, especially this late in the model year, it's likely because that dealer generally follows the model of max profit per unit, versus the volume approach. The dealerships I know of that are much more aggressive in pricing have none, or maybe 1 or 2, left in stock.

Anyways, please let us know how you make out! Good luck!

I bought one last Friday for almost 20% off MSRP, I think they still have a few left at BMW Alexandria VA.

20% must be post-incentive. What was your discount when you subtract all BMW incentives? BMW of Alexandria is notoriously stingy with their discounts and I have experience this first hand, as well.

There's the rub. It's much more helpful for others if we stick to sharing the pre-incentive discount. Incentives vary by region (location) of the dealership and not all buyers qualify for the same incentives (not to mention some stack and some don't stack). And, of course, incentives change from month to month. If we discuss pre-incentive discounts, it's the closest thing to an apples-to-apples comparison. Otherwise you might have folks without loyalty comparing to someone with loyalty, or across different regions, or with our without USAA, etc etc.

Nobody wins I'd your theory is true. They're paying interest on that inventory so to have it sit there in order to get the highest possible price is counterintuitive

I think you overestimate what floor plan costs. Money is cheap right now... And if they are making good gross on each unit, they can afford to pay that floor plan. The winner is...the bank! Haha

I have no problem waiting... I'd even be inclined to wait until used ones start hitting lots to save on depreciation... Also gives more time for issues to come to the forefront, but new is always a bonus...

IF i can get a steal of a deal now, i will try and do so... I don't "need" it, but sure would like to have it...
