Leather Dash

I'm debating on getting the leather dash and was trying to find a picture of the car without it. I am getting the black extended merino leather for reference.

Anyone have pictures without the leather dash or comparing the two?

If you're ordering Vernasca leather, the standard SensaTec dash matches the grain. If you're upgrading to Merino, I highly recommend optioning Leather dashboard.

Standard SensaTec dashboard
Here's a photo of the standard SensaTec dash - it's synthetic with embossed grain with contrast stitching.

Note: this example shows standard SensaTec dashboard with extended Merino leather interior - notice the grain differences between the upper dashboard (SensaTec) and smooth center console tunnel (Merino).

Leather Dash Option - Upper dash, top front/rear door window sills and lower center console tunnel
And photo of the leather dash on my G05, finish is matte and smooth to the touch. The option extends leather to the top fron/trear door window sills and lower center console tunnel (shown in black - ivory, coffee, or black depend on the interior color).

Here's are some pictures of the base car, you still have the stitching on the dash and tops of the doors, it's just not the same merino leather as the seats (it's sensatec instead): https://g07.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...8#post24571538

I ended up stepping up to full leather, I had it in my X6 and M3, and a big part of my disappointment in my previous X5 and 4 series was not going with the full leather option, it made the interior feel much different. This isn't quite as drastic in the X7 as the other cars I mentioned, the biggest adds with full leather over extended here are the lower dash and door panels, plus a little more in the center console that isn't really noticeable.

I did not originally have the leather dash in my build but added it at the last minute since. I have leather dash in my M3 and love it so had to have it in the X7 too!

Thanks for the feedback! I think I'm going to throw it out there. What's another $850!

I'm still debating on multi contour seats but for $750 might as well keep them.

Get the leather dash for sure! As others have pointed out, it will look more cohesive with your seat selection.

Another must for me... my F16 X6 had them, I moved to a F15 X5 that did not have multi-contour and I simply couldn't find a comfortable seating position. I ended up eating $6k to get out of the X5 early and into the X7 (this wasn't the only reason, kids were growing faster than expected as well - both the 12 and 13 year old became taller than my wife in those 2 years so the 3rd row I had in my X5 was less useful, but my comfort, along with the interior build quality, was weighted a little higher).

Thanks! Sold on both!

For additional comparison, here's my similar interior with full leather. This includes the lower dash, lower door panels, and another strip below the lower center console tunnel.

You need to do the leather dash. As a friend put it when I was thinking about removing from my build at the last minute "you're buying a $90,000 car and you're going to save $600 on the thing you will be looking at the entire time you're in the car driving."

Yup! Makes total sense! Just confirmed my build with leather dash and the multi contour seats!

To me it wasn’t about money but more so the durability. There are countless threads from many manufacturers about leather dash issues. I opted not to get it and I’m perfectly happy without it. I also opted for the Vernasca since I didn’t like the design in the Merino seats. Again nothing to do with cost.

I would get the leather dash. I have it in my wife's X7 and I have the Sensatec in my X3M. Huge difference to me.
