I was headed up to Bear Mountain today with what seems to be the rest of NYC. As I sat in traffic on a country road, the recently patched road softened in the 90 degree sun
As I started to drive off, there was a awful vibration. When I pulled over to check, I had patches of tar and rocks that stuck to my tires. I scraped much of it off but it's in the tread as well. Any suggestions on how to clean it all off? |

I would say pressure washer. But then you run the risk of blasting bits of gravel onto you paint
Or maybe a tar remover can soften it up a bit so you can wash it off? https://www.carbibles.com/best-bug-tar-remover/ |

Mineral Spirits will dissolve tar.
Not sure of the effects on rubber but I'm sure it would be fine if you hosed it off afterwards. That said, I'm sure the tar will go away with some spirited driving I think the summer tires are made of a compound that is magnetic to EVERYTHING |

I think the best way to do it would be a heat gun and a screw driver to dig it out. Perhaps a tire shop or mechanic can clean them up? |
