M50i exhaust issue

Collected on Thursday and noticed this yesterday. Not sure how this got through the dealer PDI tbh. Zero marks on the pipe (and tbh impossible for it to have been damaged given how recessed it is) so must be a manufacturing issue.

Has anyone else collected recently and had this on their M50i?

Have contacted my dealer and expect them to swap out but it annoys me that this managed to leave the factory never mind PDI.

Third possible option is it was damaged In transit and they fixed the bumper and exhaust trim at the port. It happens a lot.

Had an small knick in mine but I never notice it so it's not an issue for me.

Going to get it swapped out regardless. Can’t see a mark on the pipe so not sure it got damaged transit unless the entire left side of the bumper was heavily smashed in (in which case Id be amazed if they repaired it all but missed the exhaust pipe).

I think the pipe will have been defective/damaged before being added during prod and BMWs shoddy quality control missed it.

More then likely it was damaged from the supplier and never got caught in the factory.

Yup that’s my guess as it’s almost impossible to dent it given where it is.

I've seen them in the plant like that before . They started paint marking the tips to make sure they don't leave like that .

That’s probably what it is. It’s visible enough so deal should easily make a warranty claim and it will get fixed quickly.

Your right, the port would have fixed everything if that was the case.

I’ll post a pic of mine later, but mine is a little uneven on one side. One tailpipe is a little higher than the other to a point where it’s clearly noticeable upon a quick glance. I noticed it when I washing it for the first time.

I’m sure I’m just being OCD, but to me this looks uneven, especially since the other side is fairly symmetrical.

It’s not a indent like yours, but it’s the same exhaust. I’m not going to do anything about it, but I would certainty get it fixed if I had an indent like yours.

Anyone else’s exhaust uneven like mine?

Had a small dent in my 40i left side. I just pulled it straight with a pair of pliers covered with a cloth as not to scratch it.

Any one added exhaust tips, stock pipes look like drinking straws.
Supersprint have told me they will have an exhaust system on the market by the end of the year

I'll be all over that as an when it's launched. I'm amazed there's no MP option tbh.
