Picked up my car today but can’t seem to get media to show either via CarPlay or via USB (on all my other BMWs I’d insert a USB pen into one of the USBs and the tracks would show in iDrive).

I’ve tried the USB by the wireless charger and in the centre console (with a USB C Adapter to no avail).

Also can’t for the life of me find CarPlay despite my iPhone being tethered ok for calls etc Bluetooth and tried also via wire. It’s standard on all X5s right? Mine is a U.K. M50i.

Re usb , go to Media/Settings and make sure all the options are checked.

For car play try...

Navigate to “Communication” menu in iDrive. Then, select “Manage mobile devices” followed by “Connect new Device.” Select “Apple CarPlay.” Select “Confirm.” Your vehicle ID will be displayed.

I'm not with my G05 atm so cannot be 100% sure. Also in Apps press options button next to idrive controller znd select update apps.

Really weird - iPhone shows in both the Comms and Media sections but nothing specific to CarPlay.

Music will play from my phone over bluetooth and iphone cable but this appears to be simply normal iphone tethering as it isn't via a CarPlay interface.

Also can't see CarPlay in apps or any of my other CarPlay compatible apps in the iDrive. Very strange as every other car I've had CarPlay has activated automatically when my iphone has connected.

USB all working fine now tho.
