Using Spotify without CarPlay

Has anyone enabled Spotify as an app outside Apple CarPlay outside US?

I prefer BMW iDrive as against CarPlay but for playing music on Spotify or Amazon Music I need to use Bluetooth connection.

There was a thread to enable Spotify in apps but I believe option is only enabled in US/Eur software version don't see that option in Australia.

Im in the UK and have been using Spotify native within iD7 (not CarPlay) linked to my Spotify account and using car's data connection since day 1 of having the car.

I'm also using the integrated spotify since I have it. (Start of this year)
You don't need to connect a phone and don't need a mobile data abonnement.

What services/options do we need to use Spotify within idrive 7? Just connected drive subscription that comes with the car or something else like a data connection for the car?

You need at least 11/2019.xx and I believe it uses the built-in LTE data, as per JayPichardo

Originally available in the UK with 07/2019.xx then taken down in October for stability issues and as other posts have mentioned available from 11/2019.40 and later. If you don't have the app showing in media options then try updating Apps. When reintroduced with 11/2019.40 I had to get the connected drive team to push the app to my vehicle.

Won’t work in mine despite entering my credentials, etc and having a premium Spotify account. Kinda disappointed. Only can use Spotify in Apple car play.

I know Spotify has several "Quality" settings when listening to music. Is this also an option when using the build in spotify ?

Or how does the sound quality compare to if you use your phone cellular and use BT/Car play for example ?

Recently I updated to 11/2019.70 but I believe if it uses LTE data it won't be an option in Australia anytime soon as LTE subscription is not yet available here.

Recently I updated to 11/2019.70 but I believe if it uses LTE data it won't be an option in Australia anytime soon as LTE subscription is not yet available here.

That's likely to be the answer then.

Also, was running fine on my 07.2019 software prior to upgrade

I did not find any quality setting for the built in spotify app (and I have spotify permium acxount)

Do people using built in Spotify have also opted for onboard SIM(mobile) package? If not, how onboard Spotify connects to internet for streaming?

Post at the highest possible streaming's rate by default based on the quality of your internet connection.

Yes, see above, you need the built in SIM. this is standard on EU and US cars from what I see.

Unlikely, because it needs to be provisioned through ConnectedDrive.

I had the same question for Deezer. Initially wanted to use it with Idrive and then I went back to CarPlay for sound quality. In Idrive, not settings available, unlike in the app, and I felt the sound was less good. Not to mention the UI which is quite different from the app...

I don't have built in Spotify app in iDrive.

I did notice substantial sound quality difference when using Spotify while connected to BT vs using Spotify in CarPlay. Sound quality is much better in CarPlay.
