Rear ended!
I hate to be one of those guys that bitches about every scratch and dent in the Bimmer, but damn, I got rear ended today. I was stopped in traffic and then bam! I was ready to rush out and start dropping F-bombs, but the guy that hit me was old and handicapped. I kindly asked him to pull off into a parking lot and exchange insurance info. I had to help him unfold his walker so he could inspect the damage. It looks like the major damage was from his license plate bolts, but I think a new bumper is in order. The gouges are too deep to be sanded and filled. Hopefully his insurance will be a stand up company, otherwise I'm in for a $500 deductible from my insurance. Sorry for the rant, but this is the only place the might give a s..t.

If you have comprehensive coverage (which you should with an '06), turn it in to your insurance. You were rear ended and its' clearly not your fault. Your insurance co should waive your deductable and pay to have your car repaired. The will then subrogate with the offending party's insurance co to recover what they paid out. You can also check it out with the body shop that you choose to use as to which ins. co. is best to go through (yours or the other fellows).

Same thing happened to me as well. I ended up just paying out of my own pocket. I didn't want to go through my insurance and have an accident (even if I wasn't at fault) on my record. And the old lady who hit me was on social security and couldn't afford a rate increase on her insurance or pay out of pocket for it. So I just let her off and paid for it myself. I couldn't live with hurting an old lady.

That happened to me about 5 months after I got my current '04 3 series. I actually viewed it as a good thing. All my previous cars had picked up dents and stuff while parked, and this was the first time I knew who did it, and their insurance paid for it.
But it still kinda sucks. |

People should have to take a test every five years after they hit 65. Too many old people driving in FL. They scare the hell outta me.

Everyone should have to take a practical test every time they renew, IMO. If they have points on their record at time of renewal they should have to resit the written exam as well. That should weed out the misfits.

Agreed, and the training we take to drive a cars a joke as well, should be a LOT tougher to get a license, imo. I pass people on one lane roads when legal (Only if I'm late for class, and only going 5-10 over) and you know how many people flip out when I do that? I think its because they don't know I CAN.
