ok.. Here is some PICS about transmission and my car..

at first.. thx for replying my article..

i went to dealership again and took camera.. they exactly explained to me how did get water into sealed transmission.

i still dont understand. he said even if my car was not in water it can be sucked it up while im passing kinda deep water hole. and only conclusion is on my BAD LUCK..

so i asked about coolant system and the other stuff.. but they said they had 8 times diagnostic test so it cant be any problem except transmission..

and i couldnt even move another dealership.. i told them i want to get a quote in another dealership but they said they r professional service center so,, it seems like dont suspect our service.. something like that..

it was like throwing eggs to big rocks..i will post some pics from dealership.

i took mixed water/oil sample tho..

the picture which the guy pointed with ball point pen is the way how did water get into..
he said it could be sucked it up thru bottom of transmission and also thru blue valve which is top of transmission.

man, this doesn't make any sense....how the hell does the transmission suck water if it is sealed??

and why the hell won't they let you take it somewhere else? Tell them I don't want to get it fixed here. period. end of story.

Looks like you got your car from Hassel. How did you end up at Rallye BMW? They are probably giving you a hard time since you didn't buy the car there.

+1 once again, they can't deny you the right to take your car elsewhere. they are just telling you to stay there since they have already taken your transmission out etc...

take that tranny and take it else where, pay their diagnostics fee and if it is warranty work done at another dealership, then BMW should be able to refund you that fee

I don't get it..looks like hes pointing to the plate

is the housing cracked?
bad gasket?

where is the water going in from? that plate i think goes to the flywheel, don't think any water goes through there

maybe the inspection plate? but i dunno if our cars have a inspection plate

It was raining really bad the past couple weeks on LI.

My cousin ran through a puddle in his Alero and got water in the transmission(i think, i really wasn't paying attention when I heard this)

Please excuse my lack of knowledge on BMW's but if you were to go through a huge puddle of water, it wouldn't get in anywhere? possibly engine?

man, I feel for you... you need to take your car out of there and go to another dealership, and tell them not to charge you for the stupid diagnostic fee

Also, lawyer up if more than 1 dealership denies warranty claim

sigh.. yea i bought my car from hassel bmw. they are really good i know. but rallye is close by my school and my home. when my car was shaking hard, i couldnt drive to hassel bmw so i took my car to rallye. also i usually got engine oil service in rallye since this year. i was looking for lawer as all ppl said, but i dont know... so complicated now i cant handle it by myself. my parent is in korea and i live here alone T.T

they keep saying insurance is the only way if i dont want to pay like 6000$. even if i talked bmw NA for 1 hour on the phone, they said they dont cover about water in tranny..

But there is no way that you could have put water in there without knowing it. Either you decided to pour a bottle of water in it, which is unlikely, or you decided to ford a river with your car, also unlikely.

lawyer up man. that sounds like a design flaw or manufacturing defect. the only way water should get into the gearbox is if someone goes and pours water into the fill tube

don't our E9Xs come with a under body panel to prevent excess water splashing/flooding into our engine ? (correct me if i'm wrong)

That's what I've been trying to tell him too. Yea man, get a lawyer involved in this. I think they're just trying to get out of having to pay for a new tranny. You're at the Rallye dealer but you have a Hassel plate holder? Which dealer did you get your car from?

I must agree with everyone that has posted that this is major BS. There is indeed a panel under the car to prevent water intrusion to the car but thinking logically ask them how often they have water in transmissions without either direct tampering or water also in the inside of the car from floating down the river someone tried to cross. If driving through a puddle caused water in your transmission than your BMW, and mine, is more cheaply designed than any other car on the planet. They can point pens at as many things as they want but the bottom line is that this was caused by a manufacturing defect and must be fixed under warranty. It amazes the me the amount of work some dealerships will go to make sure to screw their customers.
