Shark Fin Question

Hey guys, wondering if anyone knows if the OEM shark fin is removable/replaceable. Also if so, a part number would be excellent. I have something up my sleeve

I seem to remember someone on here removing theirs but putting it back on because there was a gaping hole where it was.

not looking to remove it and leave it off, but rather create Matte Black or CF OEM fitment replacements for people.

its a pain to get off. its glued to the roof using butyl(same stuff used for windshields)..you have to gingerly cut it off which trust me takes some time. ive had to remove two on e60's to replace faulty sat antennas and they are really a huge pain. make sure you let it sit in the sun for some time to get hto and soften the butyl.

I thought there are several vendors that already have cf sf cover for sale as well as cf mirror covers? But gluck with your project.

I wont mess with my shark fin that for sure unless it does not behave correctly

Very helpful info. Thanks man! I sounds like too much of hassle to remove, so i think covers are the next best thing.

Its actually pretty easy. Lower your garage door to about one inch below the fin, then back out of your garage at full throttle. It will come off in a sec.

People would want it if they go for the CF/black roof route. Having a black roof with a colored fin is silly.

Check out this M3 Post: http://www.m3forum.net/m3forum/showt...rk+fin+removal

I personally would love to remove my fin as I am one of those people who hate the look of it. I'm still not convinced I've seen the total absolute truth on what it does and what happens when you do remove it.

I thought it was just a housing for the anttena(s)..So as long as you dont have or use the assist or nav or the phone adapter (I dont mean bluetooth) then you should be able to ditch it.

EDIT: Add siruis radio to the list...
