Finally got around to assigning my 'favourites' buttons, and have set a few to particular radio stations, another to my AUX input (hard disc). Another to my home address in Navigation.

I wanted to set one to 'My Info', whereby it would check for new messages (eg: from Google Maps), and another to the 'Internet'. However, when I try to assign either of these functions to buttons, it says something like 'assignment of this function is not possible'. So, pretty sure it can't be done, but thought I'd ask the question anyway,... any ideas?

Hi mate, I have similar favourites to you. I've not tried assigning 'My Info' as a favourite but as its just a particular part of idrive rather than being a specific entertainment, nav or communication source it doesn't surprise me that is says not possible.

Btw, I don't have my exact home address in the idrive. I've heard stories of theives driving to home addresses saved in satnavs (with the car and house keys) and then ransacking the house! I just have the centre of the village I live as an approximate home destination

What i love about the 8 fav buttons is how you can lightly touch them and see the presets, handy for the passenger who is looking for a fav station etc. Actually its not handy at all....its just cool

They are also key specific!

Found that out when on holiday and someone opened the car with the other key. It would appear that the key settings are loaded when you unlock the car. I thought that it had forgotten all my setings!

Could it be that choosing the "internet" option requires an agreement not to operate it on the move, maybe some legal reason behind it.

No such problem for me......its a new house that has only been there for 2.5 years and still the road isn't on my SatNav....even the newer DVD that was out earlier in the year

From memory I don't think you can assign that function. If I remember correctly, I had mine set up as a short cut to nav, bluetooth and radio, but the 'My Ifo' is a sub menu of a menu so a short cut is not possible.

Paul, I hadn't thought of the home address in that way before. Cheers for that.

how do you assign these 8 buttons to your favourites?

I only have them as radio stations at the moment?

Just navigate to wherever you want to store, ie. map view 900yds scale, for example, then press and hold the fav button, it will then store that location....

Same for any (most) places in the i drive menu.

Traffic Program (TP) on/off is a must for me..

woohoo done this, i assigned them to a couple of phone numbers since i cant pull up the phonebook from my blackberry...is that because they are not compatible?
