The Adaptive Xenons and BMW's awesome brakes saved me and my car
It was about 9:30 PM EST and I was coming home from a long day at school(11 + hours) I was about 5 minutes from my home and there is this really nasty turn in the road. Speed limit on the road is 35. I was doing about 37-40. Well anyway,I'm coming around the turn and low and behold, the xenons turn with me, But what I didn't expect was a family of deer standing in the middle of the road. Thanks to the adaptive xenon's, I saw them before slamming into them. I slam on the brakes and come to a complete stop. The deer run off into the surrounding trees and I am safely able to take my car into the garage another night, in one piece. I'm glad BMW knows how to make their cars stop as fast as they get going!
Thanks BMW. P.S. I still wish the adaptive xenon lights turned a little sooner. It' not sensitive enough. |

Glad the car did its job and protected you.
Usually when someone writes what I just wrote, the car is also crumpled so in this case the end-result is even better! I like the adaptive lights and the cornering lights; I found them particularly useful in switchbacks going up Alpine roads.

Nice to see a good testimonial like this one. Proves that much of this technology and engineering are founded in practical and safety uses. Glad you avoided the accident - no doubt also because of your attentiveness and driving skills!

Glad to hear you are OK man.
I was doing the limit in a 45 MPH zone this AM on the way to work. The light changed quickly, and it was a close call as to whether I ran the light (Yellow/Red). There was a cop at the intersection. I slammed on my brakes but kept on going seeing that I was already through the intersection. 1. These brakes are amazingly solid. 2. It was a campus cop, so no worries

Awesome! I love the adaptive headlights as well!
Also, I think you did a great job by being responsible and driving at a reasonable speed around that blind turn. If you were going 50+mph it would be hard for any technology/tires/brakes to save you from hitting the obstacle |

I think adaptive headlights are amazing safety feature. Like the thread starter experienced, it has saved me numerous times not only from Deer but from potholes and surprise craters on the roads.

This is a weekly occurrence for me as I live on a windy country road surrounded by miles of state park and tons of animals. IMO the adaptive lights respond quickly to steering changes. And Pirelli P-0s have earned their keep, amazing wet performance in particular.
