My car had a bad weekend :(
First, I let a sober friend park my car in a garage... Silly, I know... But I was not able to drive intoxicated and my car needed to be moved. Apparently sober does not equal good driver... She scraped my car against a cement base column when she parked.
Next, I think a bicycle got too close and scratched the rear of my car. Do these scratches look too deep to be removed without repainting? They're pretty faint, you have to be looking for them to see them. |

I took the car outside to see if the sunlight could catch the scratches a little better... |

Most of that will buff out, but you'll probably have to get a little paint where it went through to the bumper. I'd check out a paintless-dent-type place or 'cosmolision' or whatever they call it where you are. They're usually pretty cheap. I'd probably put that under $500, say $tree-fiddy or so.

Most of that will come right off. I use a product called ScratchX from Meguiar's. Not as harsh as a rubbing compound. As far as the front where some of the paint has been scratched off, nothing a bit of touch up paint and wet 2000 grit sand paper won't hide. |

Doh. Doesn't look too bad though... I know it will look perfect after you get it fixed.

+1 on ScratchX, i tried rubbing compound before, very difficult to play with, must be really light, and you can't put any pressure when your using it otherwise you will cause more little scratches that you can see..i recommend getting a professional if you gonna wet sand, if you have no experience at all just get a pro, at least if they don't do a good job you can complain and hope for a better one, if you mess it up, it might be too late and even a pro can't fix

Back no prob - front you won't get it all out - some of it is through the paint, but you can make it look a lot better, and if you are really worried about it, find one of the airbrush guys that fixes chips and scratches and they will make it disappear - especially on TiAg - super easy to match and blend!

Start with some 2K grit sandpaper and get it smoother. Then wash the area good and use some denatured alcohol to clean it. Wipe with a link free rag. Then spray a coat of primer or two and then use a can of spray touchup (not brush). Finally spray with a coat of clear. This process works for some of the deeper bumper scratches - yours might not need the entire process. Id start with just some brake cleaner spray and see how much it removes and then maybe some rubbing compound MEANT for plastics.

rule of thumb is if you can catch your fingernail in the scratch it will take more than just buffing.

Not that bad, just apply some scratch remover but the deap one that bares the primer needs a little touch up.
