You need to have bimmercode and be on the beta version. If you don't have it, buy the app and send an email to support through the app asking for beta test access, You will get a response pretty quickly!

Glad to see that Bimmercode beta now has tail light DRL activation.
While I have Bimmercode & am a beta tester (for Android), I still use E-Sys & ProLauncher to do some coding. I coded taillight DRL Activation; here's what to do: HU_MGU module in HMI_SPEECH section Set DAYDRIVING_LIGHT_REAR Function to aktiv Hope that helps!

Can I use the V Gate I car pro to access the Bimmercode app and all the G20 ECUs or do I need to go with the much more expensive OBD Link MX or LX?
I note the V gate is not listed on the Bimmerapp site as a recommended adaptor, but some seem to use this with no problems. I read a lot of conflicting advice on this. Obviously don't want to waste money on the V gate if it is not going to work. |

I use the ethernet cable with a ethernet to lightning adapter for my iPhone. Super quick loading time and I can get to all the modules, also cheaper than one of the higher end bluetooth ones.

You can also use this method if you go esys. It is super fast. I think I spent total of $35 for both cables and have been really happy.

I believe obdlink mx is the cheapest. I have that. You get full access to your car and the same functionality as the other two obdlink adapters for your car.

In the UK, on Amazon, the LX is the cheapest, but only suitable for Android devices.
The MX is suitable for both Android and IOS devices. As I have an Android device, I don't need the MX or the extra cost. My understanding is that other than device suitability, they both do exactly the same job in terms of accessing BMW G20 modules through BimmerApp. I have a list of coding that I am keen to get on with, once I have the adaptor and beta version of BimmerApp. |
