There are so many posts about Custom tunes are they worth it if you don't have an upgraded turbo or E85.... My opinion YES!
2016 M235xi FBO.... OTS stage 2 BM3 is amazing but I just did my first revision with Cary Jordan wow! Real street numbers using Dragy with OTS very consistently 3.9 sec 0-60. First map with Cary Jordan 3.6 sec 0-60. Btw I live in Boston so doing 60-130... not happening. I'll keep updating the progress.

Think it would break into high 11 sec range in the quarter mile?

60-130 would be interesting to see. Just a thought, but have you considered I-95 N/S south of the Hampton Toll Plaza? That's a great stretch for top speed runs.

It is a great spot, little nervous with it being so close to the state line lots of troopers. Funny enough I love cars but not a big fan of going 130 lol I'm more of a 0-80... guy.

Yeah, I get it, and it's been a few years since I ran that stretch.

At that time, NH troopers were nowhere to be found along those four miles. Man, ALL those lanes...empty!...and the road pretty much flat and in outstanding condition...

A bit of an aside: I owned an E30 325is with an S38B35 stuffed into it. A top Boston-area builder had built it for himself before it was written up and he started getting orders for them. Anyway, I asked him about top end, and he said he didn't know. I told him that surprised me. He then said that he'd run it up to Portsmouth early one evening for dinner and had broken a buck-sixty. I thought that was impressive, and then he mentioned that the car was four-up with Mike Turner in the back seat at the time. Torque! lol

FWIW, my 60-130 MPH elapsed times were 11.79 to 11.83 the last time I was at the track. That was with the Dinan Elite V2 and nothing else (except for the 255s, a negative mod in this case). It's not a perfect comparison as the car was still exiting a tight corner at 60 MPH and there's a moderate kink in the subsequent, slightly downhill straight on the way to 130 MPH. That "downhill" might even everything out, though. Always fun to compare, and imagine.

P.S. You'd be amazed at how stable our cars are at 130 MPH. I grew up at a time when 100+ MPH on bikes and cars was taking your life in your hands. In this age of ours, we're living the dream.

Oh man, this story is a lovely one, but I have to ask since I am still learning all these American-isms, but what did you mean by "the car was four-up with Mike Turner in the backseat at the time. Torque!"

I am sure I am missing some reference here? What does Mike Turner the Ohio congressman have anything to do with the car being super torque-y? "Four-up", I am assuming, means an uppercut?

My wife is a New Englander and even she didn't know what you meant by that!

I think "four-up with Mike Turner" could be translated to "four people in the car with a larger person in the back". Just guessing though.

To the OP, which platform are you working with Cary Jordan? bm3 or MHD? Nevermind; re read and it is bootmod3. Awesome!

Remember in the 80's running my 79 TA around DC beltway at 3am at 120+, it was low mileage, great shape and WS6 package, and still felt like i was leaving the earths atmosphere in comparison.

Four up I think means Four in the car, so loaded.

Know idea who Mike is. lol

care to share your mods?

are you using only pump gas 93 octane? no e85, no meth, no water injection, no auxiliary fueling, stock HPFP?

which OTS map were you using before this custom tune? can you share logs of both OTS and custom.

thanks

Are you ripping these times off using launch control? How's your transmission holding up?

Yes launch control for dig runs, I also have my Launch Torque bumped up by 20% and scaling bumped up 20%. Honestly I drive like an old lady 90% of the time. I read the TCU codes every month and have never had anything pop up... Car has 56k miles.

Yes, four-up = four people in the car.

Not sure why I said Mike Turner when I meant Will Turner. Maybe it's time to start checking my text before posting!

For those who may not know, Will is the owner of Turner Motorsport Racing, a top BMW race team hq'd in Amesbury, Mass. – https://tmsracing.com/. He's also the former owner of the Turner Motorsport BMW/aftermarket parts/accessories business that was bought by ECS Tuning in 2015 – https://www.turnermotorsport.com/.
