Tow Hook License Plate

Need help. Don't want to drill the bumper on my 16 340 x-drive manual but need front license plates. Tried some tow hook license plate from Amazon but they suck. Any suggestions?

I drilled mine as I, too, thought the tow hook ones looked meh.

It took a beer or two, but I did it. Pretty painless. The bmw front cover plate slips into guide holes, so you don't have to worry about measuring.

I think it looks better than the tow hook...clean, finished, balanced.

I tried the Platypus License plate mount...as I didn't want to drill into my bumper.

https://www.cravenspeed.com/2018-22/

However part of the mounting rubbed on the clear mask on my front bumper and wore part of it off. Plus it just looked silly, offset and sticking out. I found the BMW front license plate holder in the trunk (didn't know it was there since I bought the car back in September and installed that instead. BMW has indentation on the bumper to guide the install and it was a cinch.

I had this issue a while back. I looked into options and found the company's others listed. I chose Cravenspeed.

I do like the option to quickly remove the plate from the toe hook if desired. It looks a bit silly but I'm not drilling holes in my bumper.

I also saw a hide-away license plate but found it would be scraped and fall off due to the F30 stance being low. I've attacked a video that helped me make my decision. Hope you find what works for you.

I have the ECS one. Very very tough holder. Other cars backed into mine many times and no issues.

Go to Rennline.com and check out their front license plate mounts. I know for the F30's its about $125, but the mounts look solid material..

Everyone recommends us Millworks but honestly this is the best one because of how it quick releases and how adjustable it is for parking sensors and aftermarket bumpers.

US Millworks. Excellent quality with the option to quick remove. I was very impressed with the quality and will buy for any future cars needing it.

I got three 1.5 inch magnets from Amazon and held them in place with duct tape while I was test fitting. After I was sure it worked, I glued them in place with JB Weld Putty.

https://www.amazon.com/s?k=B000UCVARK

And this is the rubberized magnet that I put on the back of the license plate.

https://www.amazon.com/s?k=B071X5P3FM

I centered the rubberized magnet on the outside of the bumper shell, then used painter's tape to hold it in place. That made it easy to find the right location for the neodymium magnets on the inside of the bumper shell and keep them there while I attached them.

With three magnets, it centers itself on the front bumper shell. The magnets hold pretty firmly, but a preschool kid could probably remove it.
