My X5 is one year old by now. It's a M50d with almost 50000km on the odometer. I have had no problems at all with the car even though night vision is driving me crazy flashing the headlights at pedestrians on the sidewalk. Never Night Vision again. But stil the best car I have ever had

But for the last week I have had strange problems.

1. When I park the car for more than 20 minutes or so the steering wheel stays in the most forward down position. I have to manually use the small joystick and set it to the correct position. But when I park the car for a shorter period it works just fine going back to the stored position.

2. I have checked all the settings except sound when lock/unlock the car. Suddenly the car changed the settings to not flashing blinkers or folding mirrors. I turned it back on and it worked fine for two times but now the mirrors are not folding and the blinkers are not blinking while looking/unlooking even though it is still turned on in the settings. I can't get it to work again.

I have tried rebooting the iDrive by pressing the volume button for 30 sec but still the same problems. I have tried using my keycard which is not associated with a profile but it still have the same problem.

I guess I need to go the the shop.

This is potentially really weird as I have just started to see very similar problems in my 45e that is 5 months old and with 5000 miles.

- My steering wheel retracts when I get out of the car, but won't return to the set position when getting back in to drive.

- I have the same settings for unlock as you and for about 5 days the mirrors would not fold in when locking.

Seems to have "magically" returned to normal now, but I wonder if there has been some silent OTA updates that are screwing with things?

A separate annoyance I have, is that the connected drive has stopped reporting in to my phone any details about the car at all. Stopping while on the today on April 5th apparently and have tried all of the signing in/out or both app and car, app deleting etc.

We have the same problem. I hope mine also returns to normal

My connected drive has no problems. I see updated details about my car in my phone.

6 week old 45e here and mirrors now not folding on locking. If I toggle the setting on and off they fold once, then not again until I toggle the setting again. Can't take the car in until the garages open so really frustrating as also have issues with reversing camera and boot kick opening

I'm on 11/2019.30 that I have had since november so I don't think this is related to a OTA update

Just a thought

Although not directly related to these problems I have in the past had an issue with my Head Up Display that would periodically not project onto the windscreen. Eventually I related this to the state of charge of my battery. Over time, because I only do mostly short journeys the battery charge-state dropped and the HUD disappearance manifested itself. Once re-charged I was able to reset it and it would perform correctly until the cycle would repeat. Given the fact that many of us are not using our cars much currently, I am putting out the possibility that these anomalies may be related to low battery voltage/charge state.

Steering wheel and mirror issue happens to me as well having 1200 miles on a clock. I gave up changing settings every time so leave it as it is, somebody said maybe it will fix itself.

Also had the steering wheel issue. Most forward position and not reacting to preset values. Also once it would not let me reset at all - the electric position control “thing” was not working at all and the steering wheel was not moving position at all.
Also M50d - exactly 1 year old only 12500KM driven

It seems to be a global issue: according to BMWClub.ru, a group of G05 owners in Russia reported the exact same issue. Here is a direct link to one of the complaints: https://mapi.bmwclub.ru/index.php?th...#post-44982444
