Help me do the math - replace single run flat, or new set of tires?

I've got a 2019 X3 30i with OEM 18" wheels and Bridgestone Dueler run flats. I've only had this car a couple of months so the tire wear is minimal. Got a nail in the rear driver side, and it's going to cost $250 for a new tire + install.

I've had bad luck with nails in the past... I am considering getting a full set of non-run flat tires instead of replacing just this tire.

So - anybody make this jump, did it pay off in the long term?

Plug it man! As long as it's in the tread area. Save the money. I've had a plug in a run flat tire for over a year with no problem what so ever.
Now your gonna hear all the geniuses chime in!
Good Luck

Thanks!

I *just* realized Bridgestone says you can repair an RFT as long as it hasn't been driven on under 15psi; I'm at 28 psi so I'm probably good since the nail is in the center of the tread.

Off the flat tire/ nail topic: A more valid reason to move to go-flat tires is to achieve improved ride quality; depending on the brand/type of tire the difference/improvement in ride can be quite significant.

Food for thought when your current tires are nearing end of life.

Of course, without carrying a spare the Runflats offer an advantage over regular tire when they encounter a nail or the like.

(Couple years ago when I was shopping used X3's I drove several cars fitted with runflats, pretty stiff/harsh ride...ended up buying car fitted with regular tires)

In my opinion, switching to non-RFT has multiple other benefits and is definitely worth it. I lease and would have had to replace the run-flats prior to lease turn in anyways. I decided to store the stock run flats to put back on at the end of the lease. I'm much happier running regular all-seasons, and cost for decent 20" tires was only ~$600 (compared to ~1000 for replacement RFT).

Patch now, then non-RFT.
