There isn't a way with Factory settings to turn it off as default. You can buy Bimmercode and a adapter to code the Auto start stop to be off by default though.. it's very easy to do and works great.

Slight correction. You can't code it off. You can code it to remember the last setting between starts and that last setting can be off. Also, Sport mode always has it default to off and Eco mode will always default to on, regardless the coded ASS Memory.
