My home made tailgate for hauling
I HATE how long cargo (lumber, pipe, etc) are flat in the G01 and are able to slide out. I am coming from an X5 with a split tailgate that I would only open the top half, lean long cargo sticking out on the bottom half, then tie down the top hatch.
Made up a quick and crude bottom tailgate. 4' x 12" plywood, some 2 x 4 's and hardware I had in the basement - cost me nothing. The 2 x 4 sits on the cargo floor and supports the weight, the plywood keeps it from falling in and some chain keeps it from falling out. |

I don't quite understand the purpose of this. If you were carrying long cargo, would the long cargo lean on top of this wooden bottom tailgate and then you would close the trunk as much as you can while transporting the cargo?

I don’t know if it’s a true or not, but does anyone know if cops can pull you over for driving with the tailgate up? I think the reason has something to do with the exhaust coming into the cabin. I remember reading that somewhere.
