F31 with 18 x 8.5 square?

I picked up a 2015 F31 yesterday. Original owner must have had issues parking as the 397s are beat to hell.

The Wagon is kind of an oddball as it has:

Sportline
DHP
M Suspension
M Brakes

Looking for a new set of wheels for it and was wondering if I can run 18x8.5 square on it? What ET should an 8.5 be?

ET32 - 35..... 35 for no hassle fit.

Someone might have there own suggestions... they will just have to speak up.

ET between 30 and 35

for tire sizes
255/40/18, most grip, fills some wheel gap with flushness, i'd do ET35 if 255 due to width.
235/45/18, better ride and impact, fills profile wheel gap some
245/40/18, increases wheel gap, so better if lowered

for a 4cyl with x-drive at stock height i'd use 235/45/18 but other choices are fine also.

I run a square set of Apex SM-10 18x8.5 ET35 with 245/40r18 tires no problem on my F31.

Based on my recent experience, I can only recommend going wider at the front. With significantly more grip, less understeer and improved steering feel, changing the stock 225's for 245's made even bigger difference than I hoped for.

Has anyone run a set of BMW's 437M wheels off an M3/M4?! Or a similar setup? Wheels are 19"x10" and current tires measure 275x35x19 rears and 255x35x19 fronts.

Anyone have any idea if I could run these on my 2015 F31?! Thanks!

I run those on my f31. You can't run that exact tire combo with xdrive. You could run 235/40/19 and 265/35/19 or 245/35 and 285/30 (although you might have rubbing with 285 in the rear without some added camber/lowering)

Thanks Andino- apologies for my ignorance but why does the sidewall height need to be higher in the front than rear? I am fairly certain my existing tires are 225/45/18 all around but I will have to check tomorrow to be sure. I'd be psyched to run the 437s with the tires that are already on them but they are 255/35/19 and 275/35/19 so I might have to pick up a different size..?!

Codestar is running 255-275(2.3%) on his xdrive without issues...https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...5&postcount=61. General consensus is having front and rear diameters equal or close as possible is better for the x-drive transfer case, though. So proceed at your own risk!

Another size combo is 255/35/19-265/35/19(1.2%). https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...&postcount=265. I think he's selling these wheels with 245/35-285/30 in the classifieds.

437m are staggered wheels meaning the rear wheel is wider than the front. That's why different size tires are run to optimize the fit. You can run a square tire setup (I run 255/35 all around on my set) but you don't get the ability to rotate your tire without dismounting them.

I would really recommend keeping the difference between front and rear tires as close to 0% as possible. I noticed some hesitation when running 513ms with a staggered tire fitment of 0.4% difference. YMMV but that's why I try to minimal the difference if I can.

What about 18x8 square?

Not to hijack the thread, but I have an F31 M Sport with 18x8 square. Any recommendations on doing something wider than the stock 225 tires? I've seen 245/40/18 suggested.

245/40/18 is fine however the since the diameter is smaller, the wheel gap will increase slightly and look more pronounced on an unlowered x-drive. i believe utenigma is rwd so the gap doesn't look too bad. wider shoulders do reduce some gap by being more flush, though. https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...MMMM+new+tires

235/45/18 will reduce some wheel gap and is the size i'd recommend on unlowered xdrives. the larger sidewall will provide a better ride and impact protection, trading off just 10mm width compared to a 245/40/18.

i do not recommend 245/45/18 because wider, heavier and taller(geared) will decrease acceleration, braking, turn-in. large sidewalls makes the wheel look smaller in diameter and look too rally cross'ish
