Dampers with electronic adjustment - Operating life
Hello Guys
Those of you with the electric damper adjustment, how long did your dampers last before replacement?

Mine seemed fine after 6 years and 71k miles when I sold the car. Actually one was replaced unnecessarily at about 30k miles under BMW's trademarked parts replacement programme - when a fault develops with the car, they start replacing random parts until they stumble on the right one

Cut off to replace both was 62k miles so I have asked for the second as goodwill as there is a difference, albeit slight, in damping from different turn in.

Mine are all original at 223k on a 2014.
Thinking its time for a refresh! Where's best to get them?

I had a leaking rear damper, (VDC) and both rear dampers were replaced under BMW's insured warranty. Mileage was over the threshold of 80,000kms, for BMW's "replace both" instruction. I was something like 55,000 miles.

You can also replace them in pairs to spread out the cost. From what I've read, they begin leaking before they need to be replaced. If yours are not leaking, maybe start by replacing the fronts with B6 Damptronic. |

I also recommend B6 Damptronic shocks as a replacement for OEM M Adaptive shocks. |

My understanding is that the Adaptives do not have the same issues as standard OEM shocks that bottom out easily when lowered because they have limited internal piston travel. Would be interesting to hear from someone who has taken both apart.

Hi guys Was wondering have you had any personal experiences of the B6 damptronics as I’m thinking of going that way myself Currently I’m always running with suspension in sport mode, just want to get a less floaty feel especially on the initial turn around centre. Current suspension is adaptive dampers with acs springs,M140 arb ,rear f31 bracing, front strut bar on a 335xdrive. Thanks guys Ps adaptives still going at 65k miles on a 2015

My only issue with the shockware is that it’s relatively new in the UK and when I spoke to Dinan UK they seemed to lack any real knowledge about the product , the guy I spoke to initially didn’t even know it was available to purchase and eventually confirmed it would be available soon
