ODB port alarm

Hi, just thinking of starting coding....

I read somewhere about the ODB port alarm. Don't really know what this refers to? Is it anything I need to be worried about?

So if I plug into the ODB port is this going to send an alert to BMW or my dealer?

When you let your OBD-Adpater plugged in and lock the car, your car-alarm will go on.

I know what you mean, bmw cars have a SIM card as I know, this sim register number of codings which you have done in your car. If this value is too high, it can be a problem with quarantine if something goes wrong for example mirror problem . I tried to get to know about this last time, but there were not a lot of information. Could someone agree with my words or it’s fake information?

Ah ok. Is that the only consequence? No alert sent anywhere or recorded?

Nope. Code away to your hearts content. There is a lot of stuff in this sub forum on what can be coded in your car. Most of it is useful.

@hottroc ,

No; I have been using the OBDII port to code my current & previous cars, as well as a few others

The only drawback is when you take it into a dealer & software is updated, you'll have to go back & re-code -- so it's well worth while to keep a personal "cheat seat" of what you've done
