Gaz's F36 Carbon Black Build Thread :D - SLI Emulator and Red Start/Stop Button Done!

So finally got myself a 4 series after admiring them for years!

The imminent arrival of my little boy triggered the purchase, probably would have been a coupe or vert otherwise but the GC had all the best bits for the 4 series

It is a 435D with a few options on there. Wanted some more power as I was coming from 330D and as I do so many miles it still needed to be a diesel with decent economy when being sensible

Mods will all come shortly and will update this thread with everything as they are done.

Mods List:

Black Grilles
M Performance Styling Kit (not sure whether gloss black or carbon fibre)
LCI Rear Lights
New wheels (darker colour, not sure on set yet)
AC Schnitzer Springs
Orange Brake Calipers (think that might be a nice colour)
Dual Exit Exhaust (not sure when and depending on how it affects warranty)
Reverse Camera
6WB Digital Cluster
Surround View
Interior Trim Wrap
ID6 Retrofit
10.25" F15 Screen
LCI AC/Radio Panel & Surround
Red Start/Stop Button
Front LED Indicator Lights (let me know what you guys are using)
LED Fogs
LED Rear Lights (until LCI Retrofit)

Here some pics after a nice wash and wax

Thanks! Yes full M Performance kit is on the list and new wheels but maybe not until a year in. I need to let the Mrs get use to the car, I expect a fair bit of curbing to come

Congrats. Look a lot like mine😊.
And I'm planning on a lot of the same mods as you😊
I'm also lowered on ACS' and am happy with it.
Currently waiting to get some rep 437M's fitted for the summer.
Nice car👍

Thanks! Had a quick browse but couldn't see any pictures or build thread for yours.
437Ms are nice, I was tempted but I'm thinking to go with something different to OEM styles.

Thank you, yes the 403Ms are a nice set of wheels, thinking of going gloss black.

Thanks, it sure is plus a few scrapes and cuts trying to get the clips undone but well worth the end result.

U got the best parking space. Away from other cars. Less chance of dings.

Digital cluster modernises interior. See u coded compass and digi speed. I did same on mine. Took digi speed off cause it stayed there in sports mode and looked funny.

I do want my digi cockpit to stay in sport display at in comfert. Google has not given answer yet
Thanks, grilles are defo a must!
Yes it sure is, just have to worry about that one car but if I park close enough to the fence it is not a problem plus have a camera watching down on it just in case

I didn't know the digital cluster was an option when I first started looking and it sure seemed to be a rare option as I barely came across many with it. But since seeing it I thought this is defo something I needed, and in combo with the ID6 looks just right.

Sport mode is nice but I do prefer the white dial set up in comfort mode but I have googled but haven't come across anyone that has successful set it to stay that way. I guess the orange is easier on the eyes when driving at night.

Very nice, do love the digital cluster.
Get some spacers on there when you do the springs as well 👌🏻

Haha thought no one noticed, will follow as I have not complete the interior wrap, have a few more bits to do and some I want to redo as I am not 100% happy. So update to follow once complete

Where did you get the wrap material from, and is it simple to lay ?

Just bought it from eBay, 4D gloss carbon fibre wrap, here's the link

It is pretty straight forward just need a bit of patience as it can be frustrating when it bunches up around the corners for small sections/pieces, just need to stretch it over these parts with quite a bit of heat. Ideally need a heat gun (decent hair dryer is also fine as long it gets hot enough) and don't stretch it too much or the pattern will deform. Lastly make sure you have a sharp crafts knife to cut around the finer edges (like the dash pieces where there are two tone colours) and excess wrap and leave around 5-10mm to fold over.

I really like the 6WB.
Was that a 'supply and remote code' package deal?
Or did you do it all DIY?

6WB sure is a nice addition.
I sourced the 6WB myself as the prices being quoted were so high and then had it coded for me, worked out a lot cheaper

'Coded for me'... was that from a dealer, mate with a favour or remote somehow?

Alos, where did you source it from, do they have any more?
Sorry for all the Q's but I'm getting together all the bits I might need to do the upgrade myself.

Simon @ Bavarian Coding (he is quite well known on the forum) sorted it out for me, he popped down to take care of a few other bits for me and virginised, coded and fitted it all for me.

I had been keeping an eye out on eBay for a while for the cluster to try and get it for a decent price. Just a matter of setting an alert and being quick.
Have a look at this thread, someone was saying they got cheap and sounded like the guy might have more.
Just remember if buying second hand make sure the milage on the cluster is less than the mileage on your car as I have been told it is difficult to virginise and code the correct mileage if it is higher.

would love this, but number one would be an HUD. Seems these can't be retrofitted though
