Hey,

So roads in my area are pretty bad at times and I ran into some problems and had some rim damage, so I repaired them and now I'm looking to repaint all my wheels since I'm not happy with the OEM two tone colour on the 791M wheels.

I have a mineral grey car, check attached. I have looked at a few photos of grey coloured cars with either black or white wheels, those look real nice. I don't want either of those colours because my winter rims are black, and white is too flashy a colour for me. I'm thinking either a really glossy bright silver, or a glossy graphite silver colour. I don't want to do dark grey because I don't want to match the colour of my body. I think satin grey is worth a thought, the contrast of satin to the gloss body colour could be nice too.

Thoughts anyone? What colour should I paint them?

IPA Bronze - Google HRE wheels with this dark bronze color, might look really nice on your car.

Thank you for your response, I don't really dig bronze but maybe I could do a satin neutral grey in that same shade, I think that would be nice too!

Yes. With a grey car, I’d go with a grey that is lighter than the color of the car. Or even silver. I honestly hate the machined look and I’ve been wanting to do something about my rims as well.

Anyhow, a big part of the reason I'm doing this is because, I curbed my wheels awhile back. Just a series of unfortunate events and bad road conditions.. it's not too bad and I've mostly cemented and sanded all of the marks. It's all smooth now and I'm just waiting for a good day to spray, maybe tomorrow or in a couple of days.

Anyhow I'll keep you guys updated. Just for more info, I bought/used the following for this project:

- 1x Dupli-color Primer
- 2x Dupli-color Premium Finish Wheel Paint WP102 Graphite
- 2x Dupli-color Premium Finish Wheel Paint Performance Clear Gloss
- 400 grit sandpaper (for removing clear coat)
- Index cards
- Duct tape
- Bondo/Cement for filling in scratches or dents in rim (if you have any)

Painting only the curbed part or redoing the rims entirely?

The whole thing entirely. I won't be able to match that machined finish no matter how hard I try by hand, but I can definitely make the effort to spray finish all 4 wheels and make it look decent.

Anyhow will be back for updates soon.

Yup. Definitely post pics once you’re done with your project!

And it's done.

I managed to get the finish just the way I wanted it, turned out pretty good in my opinion. There wasn't any unsmooth spots to the touch, the paint all layed out nicely. I did miss a couple of spots while painting them on the ground, but I just went in and filled in the spots where I missed with index cards and some tape to mask off certain areas. After I let the paint sit for a couple of days and then I wipe it down with a cloth. I used 1x Duplicolor Silver to go over each wheel with 2 layers, because the Graphite colour was too dark. I think because I went with the darker silver for the whole paint job, the silver I put on top looks less flat.

I agree. They look great. I hate how these rims are two toned or whatever it's called. They look wonderful in silver and goes with the grey color really well.

I think these wheels would look good in satin black as well. Curious to know if someone did it already.
