How can we know if the dealership updated our ECUs? Can we check the version through our idrives?

The latest version is 30.0.2. Don't get confused with 30.2, there is no such version (I guess). Easiest way to find out if your car was flashed with new software is the exhaust note. Your car will be much louder then before.
It seems new verson v31 is coming to US later this week. Some of us have big hopes that it will fix the lag issue. |

I imagine it dictates when the vacuum-controlled valve in one of the tips opens and closes, the former makes it louder.

Very interesting. I had no idea that the vehicle had that type of control. Thanks for the info!

There is a huge thread under the 'Turbo...' section (now under sticky) and you can see all kind of info related to this software upgrade. |

I was also on pre 29.2 version and was perfectly fine. Check with your SA which software version they installed and if they heard of anything regarding the turbo lag caused by the software. So far BMW and all the dealers are saying "car works as per design" but I am sure they know the problem it caused. We are hoping that v31 should fix the issue but no confirmation on it yet. For more info refer to the thread in Turbo section. It is over 60 pages and growing by 3-4 page everyday. |

What's a good excuse to convince my SA to go ahead and have it updated, even though I don't have any actualy 'problems'? I prefer to be up-to-date on stuff, but not sure how to trick'em to doing it for me.
