Anyone use black rotors?
Like these:
https://www.amazon.com/Front-Black-D...xpY2s9dHJ1ZQ== My concern is that even with the zinc coating, the pads will eventually get rusted and I don't see the rotors really staying black where the pads meet... |

The rotors won't stay black where the pads meet. It says so right on the page. My guess is that they're electroplated with the black zinc, which results in the entire rotor getting coated, rather than just the area that's not swept by the pads. They'll stay rust free a lot longer than plain rotors, but not indefinitely. They won't brake better than plain rotors. They'll shed heat better under extreme conditions, so it's worthwhile for the track, but for a daily driver plain gives better initial bite.

Depends on the type of coating if it will come off. Some premium brands have an e-coating that seems to hold up well to the rust. The OEM BMW front rotor uses an aluminum cap, this prevent the rust from the rotor inner hub to be seen (I do not know if this is the reason for the cover). I have found that the G2 Ceramic coating seems to hold up reasonably well the the heat if you put it on (at least on the rear hub).

just buy regular ones and paint the black on the parts that don't touch the pad.
