M3 Convertible
I stopped by my local bmw dealer today while running errands. They had two new M3 convertibles on the lot with the tops down. Must say it is a terrific looking car. But they sticker for $79k! Holy freakin sheeot.
And to think the 3 series was once the entry level BMW. |

I agree, my local dealer has two M3 verts. Looks are subjective and for some reason I greatly prefer the look of the M3 vert over the 335i vert. Yet, I prefer the look of the 335i coupe to the M3 coupe. Odd.
Oh and the sticker for the M3 verts was around $73K, that is a serious amount of cash.

Also in the late 80's and M3 cost about $35k (coupe) A 535 of the time was $37k. Inflation wise a new M3 coupe from 1988 dollars to 2008 dollars would be $65k, which is right around what the M3 coupe costs now. Now we didnt get the M3 convertible in the US, but I am guessing it probably would have been a $5000 premium over the coupe (maybe more) with inflation that puts the new M3 at $75,000 The M5 in 1989 was $46,000 which in today's dollars is $86k, a little lower since todays M5 starts at that without options.
