German engineering or GM cheapening?

So I recently got a handful of codes for my 328xi transfer case
54C6
5463
5F3A
So I decided to try the trick of just replacing the actuator plastic gear that wears out on these cars on the X3 and X5
Turns out the 328xi and 335xi have a different actuator setup and disassembled everything and put it back together for no reason.

Has anyone been able to replace the plastic gear on the 328i or 335i xdrive or do I basically just get a new actuator and call it a day..

Attached is what the actuator gear looks like in my car aswell as the different x3/x5 design and the trifecta of lights.
