No communication possible amp, tcu
I've done a lot of searches, and I don't really see anything that exactly sounds like the problem I've been having.
I recently picked up this car. The sound has stopped working, like the SOS failures that people all seem to get, except I don't see any SOS. The related codes I'm seeing are: S0063 No communication possible with: Amplifier S0158 No communication possible with: Park Distance Control S0195 No communication possible with: Telephone Control Unit Other codes: 002FA3 DME: No coding (this is from the 3IM upgrade I did) 009CBA FRM: Communication with LIN operator unit disturbed The sound worked fine when I got it, but I had to mess with it. The things I can think of that could have affected the sound: -Replaced the rear passenger side door card (the PO had a dog that messed up the leather on just that side) -Replaced the clutch bushing, unplugged a few things under the driver area -Replaced driver side comfort access door handle. -Replaced driver side window switches I didn't unplug the battery for any of these. After that, the car says no audio, there is no door beep, bluetooth doesn't work, no radio, etc. The amp and combox are bone dry and look as new. I checked the radio connections, and visually, they look fine. I have a combox, why does it show up as a TCU? The PDC issue just came up today, before it was just the amp and the TCU. Are they even related? The PDC still works when I'm backing up, just no sound and a fault code. I'm a bit over my head with the electrical/computer work. I have a dcan cable with ISTA and INPA. I'm normally just a wrencher, so anything that you can think of that would help would be great. I've ordered the male/female MOST loops, so that's my next step. |

Something I've been wondering from reading all these forums is that most people need to recode the amp after retrofitting, but I haven't made any hardware changes. Is there a possibility that I have to re-code the amp if I haven't changed anything? |

If you get an amp from the same year as your car at the
same rev level then you won't . If you have one of the newer Idrives and you get and older amp then you will . It use to be rare that this occurred. After that, the car says no audio, there is no door beep, bluetooth doesn't work, no radio, etc. The amp and combox are bone dry and look as new. I checked the radio connections, and visually, they look fine. The car gongs and beeps come through the amp stereo systems in all years but 06 I have a combox, why does it show up as a TCU? The PDC issue just came up today, before it was just the amp and the TCU. Are they even related? The PDC still works when I'm backing up, just no sound and a fault code. Was does if show up as If you use Inpa functional jobs with the F2 and F3 functions I'm a bit over my head with the electrical/computer work. I have a dcan cable with ISTA and INPA. Holy crap, thanks for your help, Tuna. I think I had a problem no one else would have.
After reading through everything, I started watching some of the videos and he showed how if the TCU is bad, there is no light back at the fiber port under the dash, but mine had a good light. Then I looked at the actual port, and one side looked different from the other. So I just grabbed a piece of wire (probably could have used something less damaging) and scraped it clean. That was it. A dirty port. Everything is working again. Thanks again! All the documents were really helpful. I understand the car a lot better and I know where to turn to when (not if) I get more electrical issues. |

Good idea to study that stuff get familiar with the car.
Get a K/D can cable and set up the Inpa suite and Ista D learn how to use it before you need it. A qtip with alcohol would have been good. |
