Best way to carry the CA fob?
It's just too big for my wallet (pocket book), so I thought it might be good if I could somehow 'attach' it to my cell phone, as I always carry this when I leave the house. Are there any aftermarket phone case that have extra fob-sized pockets?

Hmmm... I personally have to carry keys to my house everywhere, just like I carry my cell phone. So I attach it to my house keys. If I only had a fob that would open my car and my house, I would have the same problem as you. If they could just make a fob that would open everything you need and could be implanted in your phone without adding much size......

I just carry it in my pocket.
Maybe if they make them smaller...you could one day just do this to all of your goodies http://www.signonsandiego.com/news/c...-1n12chip.html

I have a favourite jacket (lightweight Goretex) which is good most seasons. It has a tiny pocket on the upper sleeve (with waterproof zipper) which I keep the transmitter in. Thus as long as I have that jacket I'm ready to go. Living in a temperate climate this works for most of the year.

Mine is on my house keys and lives in my pocket.
The funny thing is now I wish my house was CA because I shut down the car and then go DANG! and have to get the keys out of my pocket (ususally with my coat and brief case etc in my hands at the same time) to open the door between the garage and the house

Anyone figure how to program the CA to open your house, garage door, office, etc. locks? I.e., to determine the CA code, and then program the receivers for house etc. to respond to it. Surely it is feasible to have a single signal for all electronically controlled security devices. It would be nice to do away with the whole lot of jangley keys...

The signal has to be encrypted and would probably be quite difficult to reproduce the receivers necessary for the house....

How about the homelink buttons on the rear view mirror? Can't you program one to unlock an electronic door lock, or is it only for household lights at this point? I'm not too familiar with the homelink stuff, I only managed to get my garage door working with it.

Homelink door locks are no longer manufactured. But there are many other keyless door lock solutions for home. Fingerprint locks, keypad locks and RFID solutions. They range from $100 to several hundred dollars for those locks.
