335d Quaiffe LSD wanted
These may be as rare as.... but if anyone selling used I’d be interested.
For my e90 08 335s Not sure whether bolted variety yet, need to check my chassis number with Birds |

If you're buying the LSD already assembled, what does it matter if it's bolted or welded; the job is already done!
Good luck in finding one anyhow |

I’ve just had a stage 1 engine map and traction is a bit limited out of bends. I’ll need some ps4s also before stage 2 |

If you're buying new (new lsd to go in your existing casing), then yes the price depends on whether your diff is bolted or welded. If you're buying used, the installation work has already been done, and it no longer matters whether the diff was originally welded or bolted.

Mine is bolted luckily. Birds charged me £1660 to do it. Yes a lot of money but with every penny and will probably get most of it back if I sell the car without it.

Thanks guys, Birds have quoted me £2358 after rebating me £600 when I've sent my diff to them. Mine must be welded 😳
I'd rather spend the money elsewhere first, it's an upgrade I'd love, but at this price I'll need to find one used 🤞 |

Likewise; would love one, but cannot justify at retail price!
Anyone know anything about these: https://www.racingdiffs.com/bmw/ Seems too good to be true, at that price... |

You will be very lucky to find a used one. I searched for ages then gave up and took the car to birds. I felt it was the mod the car needed above all others. The other problem with finding used is all the different engined cars have different ratios. Even my manual 330d has a different ratio to the autos. You could buy a diff from an earlier 335d that’s bolted and send them that.

I suspect I’ll give in at some point also. I had a remap done since EGR valve has been playing up, had both the temperature gauges replaced but it’s remained rough on idle so would’ve needed replacement. Prior to this DPF was cleaned a couple of months back when the dreaded light came on. It was on winter tyres which might have affected it a bit, but power was down at 273hp, 546Nm. Mapped to 324hp, 604Nm, limited by exhaust manifold temperature, likely limited by DPF. I’m told I’ll likely reach 400hp without the DPF, but who knows I’ll likely then need an intercooler. I’m pretty sure I’ll really want the LSD if I go ahead, but then presently my summer tyres are MPS ZP2s RFTs, 255 rears. I’m also likely going to have an XHP gearbox flash. No doubt I’ll want to change the alloys so I can run MPS4S, but then I’m sure I’ll still want the Quaife! I definitely agree, the mod of all mods! My specialist says he’s going to fit a Quaiffe on his own F30 330i The other dilemma is my wife tends to use the 335d, and I’d need to buy her a new car. We also have an F11 535d, but she doesn’t like driving it as she finds it hard to park at her work. It’s nowhere near as much fun, but there’s always that to put a stage 1 map on..... where does it all stop. Last edited by spirocheter; 03-22-2020 at 12:09 AM.. |
