Rear lower control arm bushes.

I have made a start on refreshing the bushes and control arms on my car. I have got the rear arms on the way but have the 4 bushes for the hubs. I did the bearing bush no problem but the other with the split needs compressing before fitting. I have done this before and really struggled so thought i'd get the correct clamping tool. However, they are really quite expensive for something i might never use again so was wondering if anybody has found a cheaper way of compressing them. I've got a large set of pullers so thats not a problem.
I have ordered some t bar clamps off amazon to see if they will be strong enough.

Thanks.

Jubilee clip is what I used.

Place it around the middle of the bush and wind up with a battery drill.

Push the bush in until the clip butts up against the face.

Remove the clip and re position at the rear of the bush. Push it in again until the clip butts up.

Remove the clip completely and push the bush all the way home.

I did wonder about jubilee clips but thought they wouldn't be strong enough. I'll give that a go if these t bar things aren't suitable.
Thanks.

I tried jubilee clips on my rear subframe bushings. They were just strong enough to hold one end of the bushing while I inserted it... But beyond that I'm not sure if they helped much. They were genuine jubilee stainless ones too, not a knockoff item.

OP has the puller/press. He needs something to compress the new bushing so that it can be pressed in.

My puller set is very similar. I’ve had it a few years and done a few jobs with it. It’s been extremely useful. Just need something to compress these stupid split ones.
I have thought about poly bushing them but power flex are asking stupid money just for those 2!
Also, after fitting poly inserts in my subframe bushes I now get an annoying sound at certain RPM’s so I’m reluctant to do more poly bushing and introducing more noise.

Oh yeah, my apologies, I now understand the situation!

Just thinking out loud, what about putting them in the freezer to make them slightly smaller??

If you can't be bothered watching all of it skip to 5.04. This is the bush i haven't done yet. I did the other 2 last weekend, they were easy. The tools this guy is using are either really expensive or not available in the u.k.
