Will any aftermarket intercooler be ok for stage 2 BM3 tune?

I've done a search on here but can't seem to find a clear answer. Is any aftermarket intercooler made for the M2 better than stock? Or are there some poor ones out there that sound ok but in reality perform worse than stock?

I'm planning for stage 2, I understand some intercoolers are better than others, but can I get away with a $500 VRSF or active autowerks intercooler rather than $1200 Dinan/AFE?

Or is this a scenario of no really wrong answers, all are better than stock, but some are better than others?

Thanks in advance

Bigger isn't always better, also true for price. There's a huge thread on intercoolers here, I'd suggest taking a look at it.

It will work, meaning you don't get a CEL, but you also don't get full power.

I recommended a 6" intercooler for stage 2 applications.

In terms of cooling, any aftermarket intercooler is better than stock. Poorly designed ones will cause turbo lags due to the high-pressure airdrop. That's why it's important you get a well-proven intercooler.
