thinking about buying

Hello. My name is Rob. I'm 20 yrs old and will be selling my car soon. So I'm in the market for a m3. Nothing to crazy, Maybe an 03-04. . I"m moving to California from N.Y.C and my car will not pass there harsh inspection laws. I own 93 toyota mr2 turbo putting about 345 to the wheels. I know i know its a import and what not. Ricer and all. but i can asure you my car was no ricer. i'v always had repsect for all kinds of car . Euro, Amaerican, and import. This time I'm going to be gooing euro. Just looking for some info on the car hopefully you guys/girls may be able to help me out with. I'm am not new to the bmw world. My sister owns a 650, her b/f owns a 745 so I know about them and how they handle, But with the m3 its a little different so im trying to learn.

First-what kind of packges are their and whats included.
Second-going rate for a used m3 03-04 with around 50k or a little higher.
Third- would the warrenty still be honered by bmw with a new owner under the name.
fourth- what are some of the problems I can look for in an m3. to replace before they break on me.
fith- are their alot of mods for the m3. to boost up bhp.
and any other info you think i should know before jumping the gun.
also what are the body types by code name. e90-e93 and so on.

thanx in advance

-Rob-

For an '03-04' M3 you'll probably get more info at bimmerfest.com, only because bimmerpost.com deals with the newer body style (E90) more so then the E46 bodystyle. That being said the E46 M3 is one of the best looking cars of all time.

You should find a M3 with CPO extended warraty till 100k miles which will kinda be pricey. Also i dont think its going to be anywhere in the $50k Will be mostly in the $30's~$40k's with decent mileage like under 35k miles.

I heard the SMG ll has alot of fuel pump issues as well. As for the mods with M3's. There is soemthing called Horse power freaks Turbo kit. Cost like $20k i think. And search HPF M3 VS on youtube and you will see it smoke alot of Porsche turbos with ease.

If you gonna get a M3 e46 model. You SHOULD get CPO with 100k miles warranty FOR SURE. M3's cost a shitload of money for maintance. Just a heads up.

have you tried searching this at all? your questions pose you as a new comer to bmw's...no offence

as far as packages go, I think sports and premium??? most m3's come loaded minus the nav but some have it.
prices differ, try a local auto trader.
03-04 m3 will most likely be outta factory warranty anyways, used car warranty is a different story which depends on the situation.
problems...could vary...a buddy of mine had his air intake go on him, these things are hard to single out.
mods? yes just depends how much you are willing to shell out. There is this vid on you tube with 1300bhp m3, try looking for it.
body code is e46 if I am not mistaken.

good luck with the buy, just make sure its not beat to the dust as m3 is a performance car.

Also if i purchase a e46 witch looks like the body syle i am looking for (hopeing i have the code right 2 door coupe) and it does not come with the navi. can i buy the navi and install it plug and play. also i am a sound freak. how is the bass and highs. could it use a little motor power??? i am going on teusday to test drive some c.p.o so will see how thedrive is. i did some research and found aot of people complained about how the drive it. Shouldnt be to bad for me. My mr2 has a full stiff racing set up coilover system so im not too picky.
