CBS oil change interval too long and reset not sticking

I've been having an issue for a while now where my CBS does strange things. Up until now it all seemed plausible but I had my first "that isn't right" moment today. My past issues consisted of the CBS seemingly always insisting I drove 10,000 miles on the dot between oil changes. I thought that was odd as it used to recommend closer to 7,000 but chalked it up to good oil vs whatever the dealer was using. Weak explanation but its all I got.

Before changing my oil I had driven about 8400 miles and had 1600 miles to service in my CBS. Yesterday I changed my oil, reset the system and drove 300 miles. This morning when I got in my car the car told me "1600 miles to service". It's like it forgot that I had reset the oil change the day before and had somehow got the old distance to service in memory again. Is there some function I can run in ISTA to configure CBS or reset it? I don't understand why it would never recommend under 10,000 miles and now ignore resets. I will be checking later today and update if the second reset on oil stuck or not.

Any ideas on stuff to try are appreciated

It's 10,000 miles or 1 year, whichever comes first. If the car calculates that you'll reach the 1 year mark in 7,000 miles it will say 7,000 miles. I've never had a problem resetting mine in iDrive, so I can't say why you're having a problem there.

Huh maybe that is why. Maybe the previous owner drove very little so it calculated a short mileage and I have literally changed my oil every 6 months at worst so its slowly reverted to 10k mi.

I guess I always assumed it 'derated' the OCI based on driving style and other factors as well?

EDIT: I guess I should also mention that this may have started when I updated my whole car istep through esys. Not sure if there is a procedure to run in ISTA that I neglected to run when the car is in delivery mode or something?
