Replacement CIC basic Head unit missing USB functions, etc
Hi. My 2012 head unit (CIC with no hard drive, no nav), died and i bought a replacement from eBay. exact same model;
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-1-2-3...72.m2749.l2649 Works fine. Radio plays, reverse sensors work but there's a couple of things missing.
With no USB i cant play my tunes or even update the firmware. I've got E-Sys and an enet cable but not coded before. None of the F30 "cheat sheets" mention USB connectivity as an option. I've checked the connections on the device and it seems okay so either...
All advice welcome. |

I've seen lots of guides to add features to iDrive but none to just code replacement head unit to car.
Do i need to buy fsc codes? its basic head unit with no maps or hard drive. Do i need to wipe it first or can i just change vin with e-sys? |

But nevertheless you should/can code the HU to your car. For that you have to open E-Sys, mark the HU, then on the right side "detect caf for swe", choose a CAFD and hit the button "Code". That was the short form. |

Hi. Finally tried it. under my "HU" ECU folder, there is no CAFD file. There is an IBAD file, which no other ECU has. I couldn't see how to enable the "detect CAF for SWE" option. It's greyed out.
Thank you in advance for your patience! |

Looks like you have an ENTRY HU so even if you're able to code it, the USB and Bluetooth will remain locked as these require FSC codes.

Yip, I'm in the same boat as you.
I need to replace my basic HU Entry L7. (no nav, no DAB, no combox...) I already know how to add/remove FA options/VO code (using esys) that will be relevant to my vehicle, though no idea about changing the VIN and any associated FSC codes. There are so many threads about people solving their problems, though it's really difficult to find a definitive DIY guide for the VIN change etc. |
