Moving to another brand .... JLR

Well I've finally done it, only time will tell If was the right thing to do. I've had many happy years in my BMW's listed below.

E89 120d
E92 325d
E92 LCI 330d
F30 335d
F32 440i

I've enjoyed the search, I looked at X3M's / X5's / The new Audi Q7 / Velar / Macan etc.

It all came down to us for years driving past RRS's going wow that's stunning...

We've gone all gangster with this one!
Spec wise it has everything I wanted within budget
(Deployable side steps were a touch too expensive 3.5k alone)

- SDV6 HSE
- Santorini Black Paint
- Rear privacy glass
- Fixed panoramic roof
- Black pack with upgrade to 21" alloys
- Ebony premium headlining
- Grand black inlays

Here's hoping I don't get too much experience with the rest of the JlR Range !

P.s. Picture isn't of my physical car just a similar one.

Hope you guys don't mind me lurking in the background. I have been part of bimmerpost for over 10 years now.

Special Thanks to Mashinbenzin & Justchris for the inspiration in previous threads

Congratulations Scot! Lovely car and spec. The SDV6 engine is a peach for a diesel imho. Really love it in my D5.

There is something special about the LR/RR interiors and the way they feel to drive.

Now, I won't tell you where I am as I type this

Ps. Is that a new factory order, if so do you have to wait long for it?

Thanks Mashinbenzin It's a dealer stock car that I secured. I managed to get circa 8k off the list price! The wife's work colleagues husband works at the dealership and advised that he was struggling for work towards the end of December so I haggled hard with them for it.

I'll be honest it's right up at the top of my budget but You only live once right

I am due to pick it up at the end of January.

Congrats on the new car. I have a soft spot for RR's - I just haven't been brave enough to go for one yet. My sister-in-law has a FF RR Autobiography in the same colour as yours.

Beautiful looking car, but like a few others they think theirs was probably built very late on a Friday afternoon

Just realised that we both came from 440i to LR! Maybe the B58 wafting mode sets you up for proper wafting.

Really like that premium alcantara headlining you have, that's one of the RR- specific options that they don't allow us Disco bumpkins to have.

I have the deployable steps on mine which I was initially indifferent about but now think they're brilliant. £3.5k is a steep mod to cough up though, not sure if they're that good.

It's an expensive proposition I won't give my exact figures but your looking at circa £850 pm with circa £3k deposit on a 4 year PCP for a spec similar to what I have.

Your RRS looks cracking !

I wanted those alloy wheels as-well but they were rather expensive.

How's it been so far in your ownership ?

Looks great! I'm sure you'll like it, and fingers crossed you don't have any issues! They seem to have a completely different character to a BMW. Not better or worse, just different, and I think it's great that we've got such choice as consumers.

It's also good to try different makes, and understand what else is out there.

After many BMWs we tried something different, with the wife's Mercedes C250. It's got it's good points and it's got things I don't like (hate actually), but that helps understand what is important for the next purchase, and also what we appreciate with BMWs.

As you say, great that we have such choice. Every car is a compromise and it's quite interesting to try some different strengths and weaknesses.

Car looks fantastic, I'm still procrastinating but in a similar place to you, Ive got a small matter of negative equity in my M50d to contend with.

Go for it, I'll post more pics and detail once I pick the car up! I assume you'r coming from an X5 or X6 being an m50d. Interesting as I was looking at one when I decided to go for the RRS.

Yeah its an X5, I've had it since July 17 and its been faultless, I bought it pre reg with 10 miles and all the protective wrappers still on it, I'm only paying £650 per month too so that is another bitter pill to swallow.
