Does my //M wheel look cheap & nasty?
Ever since I saw my car in its pre-delivery state on Tuesday, this photo I took of the wheel has been bugging me. I can live with the pointless perforated leather - although I would have prefered the more subdued smooth leather all round - but I can't help feeling that it looks as if it's been sewn together in a sweatshop late on a Friday afternoon. Am I being a picky b**tard, or should I say something to the dealer when the car is delivered tomorrow?

I'm going with the former...sorry. From what I can see in the photo, they appear to be minor wrinkles, which is to be somewhat expected when working with leather.

i know what u mean i have a the same steering wheel, but when you start driving it the feel is very good, and u should forget about the little things that go inot your mind, if it dosnt look at some cheaper cars like opel or ford then you will think i have a nice steering wheel, the holes stop the wetness to which it a good idea

hi paul,
at first, i would like to thank you. your whole lemon-or-not discussion opened my mind for lemen. however, i am still waiting for your feedback regarding the easiness of keeping it clean. about the m-wheel. I can't see any big issues on the picture you've taken. is it possible to take some close ups with better quality? i am very curious since i decided to get the m-wheel, too. |

hi paul,
If once u come along Geneva, don't hesitate to contact me. I ve a Leather Compagny which trades leather since 1932. I ll tell you how to make difference between leather and other materials, and as well explain you that leather is a natural product, like your own skin. The M Wheel on the pic is good. |

Looks great. Leather isn't plastic. Very nice indeed. No way for these things to be perfect if it is natural material.

Paul, you have one of the best cars on the planet. Enjoy it!! The steering wheel is fine. If you don't like it after a month let me know and we can trade.

Paul: Its just pre-delivery jitters which follows order waiting'/tracking jitters...everyone has 'em. Relax! The car is beautiful!! Those are just wrinkles which could be massaged out with the right treatment or at the very worst, you can take it up with your dealer....
I doubt you'd feel the same after delivery and when you finally drive her off the lot....

And I thought I was picky! Looks fine by my standards. Paul- by the way I was reading a Euro BMW mag yesterday and saw the torque numbers for your car- I think you'll forget about nickpicking once you put the pedal to the metal.

Forgive BMW, I am surprised they could not even do a thumb rest properly , long way to go .... you will never see bad interior job like this on a Mercedes. I would ask for a total replacement.

Well, perforated or smooth leather, that's just personal taste, but other than that I don't see anything really wrong with it. Thumb rests look fine to me.
