Noob Snow Tire question

Hello,
I live in los angeles but want to get a set of snow wheels and tires for going snowboarding this coming season. The question is because i have a bit of a drive to the mountains, it is okay on the wear of the winter tires to put them on when I leave from Los angeles? Basically, is it okay wear to drive them for a good 200 miles on regular streets before getting to where i'd need them.

Thanks

Snow tires doesn't perform well in warm weather, but it's not like they are undrivable. I guess changing wheels along the way is not very practical.

I just wonder what tires other people from your area use when they drive up to the snow.

it would probably be cheaper just to rent a SUV.

Yes you can do it.

Personally, I just rent a car when I go boarding. The cost of car rental over 3yr (typical life of lightly used winter tires) is much less than dedicated snow wheels/tires

get winter performance tires in place of snow tires and you'll be just fine in the mountains.
