Hey guys - new to the forums.
I was driving my car the other day on the freeway, did a pull and blew the charge pipe. Current mods are a BMS air intake, and a BM3 91 oct stage 1 tune. I watched a couple videos online and it does not seem like it is an extremely complicated fix, but I am hesitant to do it by myself, as I've only stuck to doing basics like oil changes and cleaning/installing the intake. I am looking to purchase an ER or VRSF charge pipe. Any recommendations, I assume as long as it is metal it would be sufficient. Does anyone know a local shop (could get it towed as long as it's not too far) or maybe someone that can come out and maybe handle it for me, that is affordable since it'd probably take someone who has done it many times 25-30 minutes to replace. I figured this might be a good opportunity to replace my stock Intercooler with a ER or VRSF Intercooler as well. What do you guys think, I'd appreciate any feedback. I am located in SOUTH OC (Laguna niguel area) |

And don't forget to order another OEM O-ring! The stock one gets pretty stiff/hard by even 50k miles. A new one is pretty sold/pliable and can make the difference between a nightmare install and the "slip" of the pipe as it connects.

If you go with the VRSF chargepipe, get a bigger O-ring. Check the O-ring thread for a ton info regarding this issue. Quote:
I have the VRSF and if I were to do this again, I would def go with ER. With that said, get the intercooler as well. You might as well since you have to drop the intercooler to replace the chargepipe. |

If you can install an intake on your own, then you can do a charge pipe or fmic too. both are really easy to do at the same time since you're in there anyways.

Someone also mentioned upgrading the intercooler / I don't want to hijack but what are good options here for a build like the OP (Stage 1 on 91 octane with bolt ons)? I haven't seen much or looked for much regarding an intercooler swap but I would assume it's more involved the previous mods mentioned? |
