Hello,
First of all, merry Christmas to all.

Need some advise in regards to to my cars suspension. Last year I got H&R lowering springs. And after installing them I got the clunking noise at low speeds. Been lurking through posts and forums I have found out different causes for clunking. Also got it checked out with my mechanic and after diagnosis he told me that my tie rod assembly is gone.

At the time of diagnosis it was only the drivers side that made the clunking noise. But now the noise comes from the both sides.

I will be installing the BC coil overs in next few months. Just wanted to ask what else should I replace now that my whole suspension is coming apart.

Should I be replacing any ball joints ?
Or any other links so I don't have to go back to re open the entire suspension to replace a $50 link or ball joint. Car has 106,000 kms

Thank you

If you have confidence in your mechanic, then the recommendation would be prudent to follow.

Great pictures! 437M wheels look perfect. Any rubbing by the way?

Are you planning to use camber plates? They can get noisy.

Suspension refresh on F30 335i RWD

Thank you for the compliment.

And yes I'm running -2.5 camber at the back. 275 rub a little. Not so bad of a rub but tire ended up going in 1 season only.

And about the camber plates.
Should I use them ?
Are they a part of the kit or do I have to separately buy them ?

I had the same clunking noise when I did my springs. It was the tie rod on my drivers side. The nut connecting the tie rod to the strut was loose and caused the clunking noise. I also noticed it was warped (due to the banging against the strut). I tightened it and the clunking went away. I ordered a new tie rod and replaced the warped one a few days later.

It was an easy fix but FYI, you'll need an open socket wrench to tighten it. It can be a PITA without one and you might not tighten it all the way. That's how mine was loose in the first place.

Other than control arms, I can't recall immediately what other suspension components need to be tightened under load. Worth reviewing before suspension repairs.

About camber plates - unless there are reasons for modifying OEM suspension specifications, you will not need camber plates. BC Racing coilovers come with camber plates as I understand. Something to consider ...
