F90 M5 vs. M8 GC
I love my M5. I toyed with waiting for the GC, but the timing was such that I needed a car sooner, and so went with the M5. Has anybody cross tested the 2 cars? I’m especially curious about he difference in ride quality and back seat roominess.

M8 GC just started hitting dealerships
As far as riding comfort should be pretty close, you will be sitting lower on M8 As far as back seats goes I am 6'1" and there was plenty room in the back. Head didn't touch the roofline at all. The only thing is that the back seat....its made for 5 people but comfortable for 4 adults.

I've considered an M8. Looked at one this morning though and I have no idea why it's an extra 30k. The seats felt a lot less comfortable and didn't have as many adjustments as the M5. I'm weird about seats though, half the reason I got the M5 was the seats. They are perfect. Maybe the GC will have the M5 seats?

Just went to the dealer this weekend and looked at both an M5 and M8GC in person next to each other. Something about the GC just looks off, especially around the rear doors and c-pillar. In pictures it looks good, but in person it just looks more chunky and softer than I thought it would, especially compared to the M6GC, which is weird because the front and rear are more aggressive than the side profile which I still think the kink isn't aggressive enough on either. I will say though the rear doors look much larger and easier to get into than my CLS' rear seats. Either way, M5 has a more cohesive design in my opinion, but nothing will ever topple the M6GC in the looks department, and the two likely drive very similar (haven't tested an M8 yet) other than the electric brakes (which I find unnecessary) and maybe some other small modifications to the M8's driving dynamics.

Again, it wasn't a M8....but the M8 is going to be the exact same shape. Not even close to the M6GC. The interior didn't look anything special, either....the navi screen looks smaller than the 5 series even. I don't like how the navi screen is recessed in there, too....looks like how BMW had it 15 years ago on the 6 series. I think the M8 coupe looks smooth....but hard pass on the GC.

And don't get me started on the 8-series interior, for BMW's flagship model it doesn't look or feel like one. Even the 6er's interior looks much better and especially with the nice flowing curves that go from the dash to the center console. This photo kind of shows off what I'm thinking. Its at this specific angle and the front that I always notice it. Up to the B-pillar its great, but the kink and c-pillar look very "chubby" or even hunched (for use of a better word) and almost resembles the Kia Stinger behind the b-pillar.

First thing that came to mind was that the C pillar looked almost more F10 GT-ish(which is the odd wagon/minivan shaped 5-series) than 6 series.....

As per BMW, M8 GC is 110lbs heavier at a curb weight of 4480lbs and M5 is 4370. Its the coupe that is lighter at 4295lbs. The weight is likely not as noticeable though (but haven't driven so can't confirm).
