Competition Exhaust

Apologies if this has been addressed previously, but I am about to pull the trigger on either a Non-Competition or a Competition X3M, and to me the only thing I really care about in the Competition pack is the Exhaust. I haven't found much re what the Non-Competition Exhaust sounds like, so was wondering for those who have heard both — is the Competition significantly louder and better sounding or is the difference more subtle? I see both have the exhaust button on the console.

Thank you.

If the only thing you care about is the exhaust then don't bother with the comp and save the money. You can always go after market exhaust if you want something louder and still spend a lot less.

Not as mean as the exhaust on the competition. Part of me has a few regrets abt not getting the competition...but at the end of the day this is still more car than I will ever need.

Both sound great! IMO, if you are considering both, why not just go with the Comp...? Plus, as I am researching, depending on where you live, aftermarket exhaust systems can be a risky proposition regarding noise and emissions laws. I am looking at options for California and getting my eyes opened! We have really tough emissions standards - applies to me since I plan in keeping it. Also, apparently, they are really cracking down on the noise laws... So weighing whether it's worth it to put $5k+ into a good quality exhaust... The stock one is really good, just wish the cold start up sound didn't diminish when warmed up... There seems to be a significant number of people returning cars to stock setups around these parts. I already get "looks" in my M40i and my M-Comp with stock systems so rethinking my plans.

You're right about the stock comp system being good. In fact, the owner of super sprint, who makes a full replacement system a la carte, told me the only thing he'd change is the primary cat. No need to swap anything else.... That's an honest opinion running contrary to his business interests.
