How is the X3M in wet weather?

The UK seems to have had a lot of heavy rainfall this last few weeks, today on a 180 mile motorway run there was just standing water for most of the journey and it literally rained for the entire duration, almost 3 hours.

My X5 is so sure footed (standard 21 inch RFL Dunlop’s) and allows good progress to be made and it got me wondering how the X3M will perform in such conditions? How are others getting on?

I am just 48hrs from collection of my X3M now and I’m really hoping it’s as confident a drive in the wet weather.

I have a X5 and just picked up the X3m yesterday, in the rain as well, feels the same as the X5 in terms of safety, dare I say maybe even better due to the amazing 4x4 system from the m5

It's fine, just drive to the conditions as you would in any car, confidence doesn't always equal ability.

An M car is much more focused than a standard BMW so just be safe.

It’s been raining buckets here in NW UK and I have done about 60 miles on motorway in nasty wet conditions the car was fine no issues whatsoever. Again just drive to the conditions and remember you have 500 + bhp so just be sensible.

Thanks all, I’m cautious having only had a 48hr test drive about how the X3 will respond to throttle input in such conditions, this will literally be the most powerful car I’ve owned.

Just drive to the conditions as any sensible person would, there is a thread on here showing you what happens when you don't.

If you keep the car set to efficient, throttle isn't an issue, really.

Keep away from MDM !!!

Other than that mines is fine. I think it helps that the power is further up the rev range than a diesel. So, while 500hp, it is the full 500hp as soon as you touch that big pedal.

not experienced too much standing water yet though.

In poor weather I leave mine in default efficient everything. Throttle is heavily damped there to improve fuel efficiency, side effect is that it tempers all that power, ideal for poor weather.
