I have a vin!!!
I know... seems silly.
But, it's a milestone. According to my dealer, a VIN is only assigned to a car the week before it goes into production. ie: My car is going into production next week. 5UXJU4C08L9B91406 Anyone have a "decoder" tool for that?

I only received my VIN after the car was in status 155 so after it was completely assembled. The site mentioned above (mdecoder.com) works very well and at least I have confirmation that all the options I ordered are inside. I also tried adding it to the app on my phone and got a picture but it needs the confirmation code displayed on the car display to fully link the car. I imagine somebody sitting in the car @ the plant and thinking: "Another impatient fool " |

But with the vin you can (at least very soon) get the Driver's Guide app and read the owner's manual for your specific vehicle!

When I plug your VIN into the decoder, what I get is this. So yeah, just starting production.

FYI it took me a couple of weeks from when I got my VIN to when the decoder was able to pick up the car. Apparently the decoders the and the drive apps aren't available until after the car is produced, even if you have a VIN.

Who runs that mdecoder site? Just curious as to who is gathering the info we put in. It doesn’t seem to have any personal info but in this day and age just curious.
And congrats on getting a VIN!!!! |

I'd take 9B70000, for example, and go up so 9B80000 etc until nothing came back on the website and then come back down until a car would. 9B75000 —> 9B78000 —> 9B77500, etc. I logged my results in a spreadsheet and averaged out their daily production and forecasted my true completion date. Weeks before my build I had estimated that my car would be built 5 days ahead of schedule. Original scheduled date of completion was 10/28 and then all of a sudden dropped to 10/24 just like my spreadsheet said (or so 1 day off). I can only laugh at myself in hindsight. I got a little obsessed. In order for the averages to be the most accurate I would check the website at the same times each day. 1 PM was one of them. I had Outlook alerts set and everything. Work would cease to exist at 1 PM each weekday. God help the client that would come in to my office unannounced at 12:55 and expect any attention from me |

However..... I spend all my time on this forum, researching, and buying a gigantic pile of parts for a car I don't even own yet - lol Crazy shows it's ugly head in many forms - lol

So I downloaded the VIN decoder app..... and I'm going through everything, and it "appears" like it has everything it's supposed to have....
Except acoustic glass. Its probably in here somewhere, but I don't speak/read German, so I'm not able to easily determine which option is acoustic glass. Can anyone help? |
