BMW Style 189 Tire Question

Hi,

I have a question regarding the RFT (Run Flat Tire) that comes standard with the Sports Package on a 335xi coupe, Style 189.

Can you replace this tire with a regular non-RFT tire? I've heard lot's of problems with noise and performance with RFTs, but I like the rim style for the 189. Can I just replace the tire on the same rim? Has anyone done this? Are there any recommendations on which brand of tire to use? I'm looking mostly for reliability (tires lasting 30,000 miles) and quietness (the RFTs are noisy).

Can you ask the dealer to swap out the RFTs for a non-RFT before you pick up the car?

Any experiences would be appreciated. Thanks!

I don't know of any BMW dealer in the USA that will swap out RFTs for non-RFTs if that is what the car came with from the factory.

Yes, you can - and should, imo - put non-RFT tires on your wheels. Of course, you'll then need to carry a spare or a mobility kit.

No, your BMW dealer won't make this swap for you.
