Disable Center Console Light
I typically leave this compartment open as I have the phone charging pad. At night though, it's distracting as the light stays on in there and reflects off the phone's screen.
I don't see an option to turn this off in the car settings. Am I missing something or am I going to have to cram something in there to make it think the lid is closed?

Sometimes I put my (flat) wallet above the lid. It's just enough to trigger the sensor to switch of the light.
Also thought about masking it with tape. But that's an always off solution...

I want to disable the light and remove the door. I have been looking for parts diagrams to determine how to remove the door but havent had success yet. The door gets in the way of drinks and makes removing the phone harder, it would be nice if it was gone.

I kinda agree. Come to think of it, I had my 2016 340 for 4 years. On delivery day, I opened the compartment and, no joke, never closed it again. If you find a procedure, you should post pics. In the meantime, I'm going to grab some tiny adhesive rubber pads to keep the lid from opening all the way and triggering the light.

I ended up deciding to cover the light with masking tape, but ended up using blue tape. Enough light still shone through, but is a dimmed blue which matched my ambient lighting. Worked out great!

That looks nice, I'm going to do that for the time being.

Yep, the blue masking/painters tape. Should be able to find it at any hardware store or even Target.

I bought clear lay film from hobby lobby and used clear double sided tape to stick it over the light cover in the compartment. I have a blue lay on now and it looks cyan-ish which I like. Goes well with the dark blue and red ambient lighting. If I get bored, I can change colors to red, green or yellow since it was a pack of 4.
PS - Pardon the sorry compartment. I need to clean it asap.

Random question, do you have ambient lighting running down the sides of your center console, or is that just a reflection? I've noticed it in other pictures on here and can't tell, but I don't have it on mine so was curious.

Yes sir. Those are reflections. Only the 5 series and higher gets ambient lighting on the center console.

Hi everyone,
I know that is an old thread, but maybe someone found a better solution meanwhile instead of some tape added a Also persons that used the tape, did it resist over time or was just a temporary solution? |
