330e 18" or 19" wheels.

Hi, i´m thinking on buying a bmw 330e g20.

Did already someone knows what will be the electric range loss for going to 19" wheels instead of stock 18" from the M Pack?

Some say 5 miles, others even more.

I really like the 19" look...

Thanks

There's never going to be anything like 5 miles range difference on electric only just from that change.

I’ve got the 19” wheels (M Sport Plus Pack) and haven’t seen or heard anything about electric range loss.

Even the salesman said something about 8km loss for charge ( about 5 miles). The tires are a little wider on 19" right?

I’ll have to try running it on all electric to see what I get but if I’m honest I’ll mostly be using the hybrid drive options where I’m getting ample range on my normal commute.

I think the tyres are slightly wider.

If I get fewer miles to my battery because of the wheels, I’ll take that as I think the slightly larger wheels set the car off beautifully.

Each to their own I guess.

Ok, i´ll agreed that 19" are so much beautiful.
But my daily comute is around 30 miles so all the range are needed.

Love, love 19" with blue Portimao.

If you can do that test, please post the results.

For now, with drive test car (18") yesterday i made 37 miles, and today around 32 miles with one charge. Pretty happy!

No problem,

Was your drive fully in electric?

Motorway?
A-B Roads?

I’ll try to replicate to give you an idea with the 19’s

I saw a black G20 with the 18s, I thought it looked amazing with them, rides slightly better too I'd imagine.

I’d of still of gone for the 330e even if I couldn’t choose the M Sport Plus pack, such a great looking car.

As mentioned in other posts, I’ve come from a Lexus IS300h F Sport and have to admit that even with the 19” wheels and the adaptive suspension It’s a smoother ride but I’m not here to defend my choice and spec, just enjoying a brilliant car.

Yes, fully electric.

A-B roads. Normal driving, just like i use to drive my 320d.

Love the silence aboard.

Anyone knows about pack longevity? Or replacement price when needed? Vw gives 8 years or 160k warranty on the hybrid Gte but i think that bmw only have 5 years or 100k. The only thing i know is that the Bmw battery pack is from Samsung.

Travelled purely on electric (Standard) on A-B roads with a couple of duel carriage ways (60mph) and my range got to 31.1 before automatically switching back to Hybrid mode.

Normal driving style, not really pushing it from lights etc but gave it a bit more on the carriage ways to get it up to 60 (ish).

Pleased with that considering I’m on the 19’s and the mentioned possible-5 mile range because of the wheel size.

Thank you for you road test. Very appreciated.
31.1 are 6 less miles that I made with one charge with 18" wheels, but it can be the outside temperature also, since here it around 20°. Let's se if someone have different results.

Thank you mate.

Out of interest what did your range state when fully charged before you got 30 miles?

Predicted range has dropped quite a bit in the last week, since the weather has got colder. Mine is now only saying 18/19 miles in the morning, it's meant to be down to 2C tonight, be interesting to see what it says tomorrow!

As a comparison last week it was indicating 20 miles and I still got 32 miles electric going into work so it's not very accurate.

Best I've had so far was 47 miles electric on a 170 mile journey (mostly motorway but some A/B roads for the last 20 miles, to avoid a jam). Thought that was pretty impressive, got about 67MPG on that trip I think. Driven pretty gently I should add :-)

123 mile trip today, 39 miles in electric and 65 mpg.

A few lead foot moments but still very happy with my results so far.

Like I said in an earlier post, I’d rather the battery meter show less but achieve more miles than it showing 40 miles range and getting less.

I had a dealer tell me that the electric range drops from 41 to 37 miles. I believe this is only really relevant to the HMRC calculation. However, I am having difficulty getting clarity on this point and what changes will occur in April 2020
