What’s this styrofoam box?

Hi everyone, I have a 2017 BMW X1 and was exploring the boot space and noticed some kind of styrofoam box tied in towards the back of the boot. Could someone please tell me what it is? Thanks

I think its the location of the compressor and gung for repairing a minor puncture,if you do not have RunonFlat tyres

On our 2019, that piece of styrofoam has the tow eye and a screwdriver in it. There's also a spot to put the key for the wheel locks.
