Cam belt or timing chain F48 X1 2016 MY

Does my F48 X1 have a timing chain or belt? When should it be replaced?

It's a timing chain. No replacement required.

Don't agree with the no replacement part tho. Even chains should be replaced around 200k kilometers/ 125k miles.

The chain and tensioners are all completely internal and are one heck of a job to replace. You may consider them "lifetime" parts, from an economic standpoint. They are definitely not something to replace preventatively.

Fair enough. I'd love to know the book hours for this job

https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/f...aft/1VnYseXYlY

Especially these:

Quote:
Necessary preliminary tasks:

Remove engine with transmission
Remove transmission
Mount engine on assembly stand
Remove flywheel
Remove cylinder head
Remove oil pump
Remove rear timing case cover
Half a day max, right?

Looks rather like my 1955 Alvis Grey Lady. The timing chain and tensioner is nicely and handily located between the engine and gearbox!

125K miles sounds premature. I had a Nissan Maxima with over 200k miles, everything else was falling apart but the timing chain. Everywhere I read was that the B48 was better designed. It was not performance tuned, I would expect this would help it last longer.
